Pilates
“All new ideas are revolutionary and when the theory responsible for them is proved, through practical application, it requires only time for them to develop and flourish. Such revolutionary ideas simply cannot be ignored. They cannot be kept in the background.
Time and progress are synonymous terms - nothing can stop either.
Truth will prevail and that is why I know that my teachings will reach the masses and finally be adopted as universal” Joseph Hubertus Pilates - 1934
Pilates, based on the teachings of Joseph Pilates, is a mind-body intervention which he originally called Contrology. Focussing on developing the deep postural muscles to achieve strength, stability and promote joint mobility. Movements are generally slow and controlled. Concentration and postural alignment are key to every exercise.
Regular practice can help to improve postural awareness, balance, co-ordination and to develop proprioception.
Why I love Pilates
Pilates has been my constant for over 20 years. During times when I’ve been my fittest and during times when I’ve been injured. I practiced it throughout both of my pregnancies and soon after the birth of my children. I love the detail and the intricacies, the discipline and attention to quality of movement.
